COMMITTING TO OUR ENVIRONMENT
Pollution prevention, energy conservation and other environmental initiatives are a few of the many ways we look to lessen our impact on the Earth. Highlights of efforts that extend beyond creating efficient products include:
PARTNERSHIPS
Moen seeks out memberships with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), United States Green Building Council (USGBC), Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB®), which allow us to further enhance our industry's commitment and advance green initiatives with builders, plumbers and consumers.
CONSERVATION
Recycling: Moen recycles more than 90% of all metal, scrap, return product and manufacturing by-product (oils and solvents). In addition, all glass, toner and printer cartridges, cardboard, plastic bottles and aluminum cans are recycled in our facilities.
WATER USAGE
By 2009, Moen will reduce water consumption by reusing 70% of all water used in product testing. We’ve also installed water filtration systems in all of our facilities to reduce plastic bottle consumption and waste.
PAPER AND PACKAGING
In 2007, we recycled more than 7 million pounds of cardboard, more than 16 million pounds of metal and more than 4 million pounds of solid waste. Our packaging uses water-based inks and is made of recyclable materials. Even doing the little things - like setting our printers to default to 2-sided printing - has significantly lowered our paper use.
Of course, you can expect Moen to contribute to water conservation efforts with our products. Beginning January 2009*, all new Moen®, ShowHouse® and Cleveland Faucet Group® (CFG) bathroom faucets will feature flow optimization. This means our lavatory faucets will use less water, be WaterSense-labeled, meet NAHB green home standards and contribute toward maximizing LEED points*. All without sacrificing product performance.
* The USGBC developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System™ as a nationally accepted benchmark for measuring and documenting green building practices.

Flow-Optimized Bath Lavs
Optimizing water flow without sacrificing performance, many of our new bath faucets feature a 1.5 gallon per minute (gpm)/5.7 liters per minute (lpm) flow rate. The result is water conservation of up to 32%, WaterSense® labeling and contribution towards maximizing LEED® points.

Flow-Optimized Showerheads
A 10-minute shower can use between 25 and 50 gallons (95 to189 litres) of water. That's because typical high-flow showerhead valves use between 6 to 10 gpm (23 to 38 lpm). Moen flow-optimized showerheads use 30% less water while contributing towards maximizing LEED® points. The flow-optimized single- and three-function showerheads outperform the standard 2.5 gpm (9.5 lpm) flow rate without sacrificing performance.

Filtration
Plastic water bottles are becoming more of a problem to our global environment every day. Earth-conscious consumers can now turn to AquaSuite®, our single-handle filtering butler faucet. It's installed in a single hole adjacent to the primary faucet and provides a quick source for filtered water.
